Discovering the Jewish Roots of Your Faith

Updated: Dec 21, 2025

Discovering the Jewish roots of faith in Messiah (Christ) is far more than simply looking backward—it is a transformative shift that allows believers to look forward at their faith through an entirely new and richer lens. When Scripture is understood in its original Jewish context, familiar passages take on deeper meaning, the covenants of God come into sharper focus, and the unity of the Bible is revealed with new clarity. Through the blood of the Messiah, the nations are grafted into the blessings promised through Israel, fulfilling the Abrahamic covenant that all nations would be blessed through him. This understanding moves faith beyond surface-level application or motivational thinking and into a profound engagement with the depth, continuity, and purpose of God’s redemptive plan. Recognizing Israel’s rightful place in Scripture illuminates prophecy, strengthens theological foundations, and brings the entire biblical narrative into a brighter, deeper, and more coherent light.

Not Just Academic: Also Practical

At Beth Ariel Ottawa, we are not here to correct, diminish, or invalidate the faith you have been living out until now. We are here to enhance, edify, and ignite it—welcoming you into a deeper understanding of the very faith you already practice. We do this through clear biblical teaching, meaningful fellowship, honest questions, and shared study of Scripture—but we are not merely an academic setting.

We are a living congregation, walking through the real challenges of life together. One of the great strengths of the Jewish worldview is a deep understanding of community—thinking not only in terms of me, but we. That spirit shapes who we are. We walk with one another through discipleship, healing, and growth, journeying together through the wilderness when needed.

Gentiles are not second-class citizens here—far from it. From the beginning, God’s promise to Abraham was that all the families of the earth would be blessed, and in Messiah, Jews and Gentiles remain distinct yet united as one new body. This is the beautiful mystery of God’s redemptive plan: different callings, one Messiah, one hope—walking forward together.
